Clarence is a lifelong philanthropist in the Central New York area. He led the Syracuse Rescue Mission Alliance for 40 years. He grew it to become the largest Rescue Mission in the United States. After retiring in 2001, he became the development director for Mercy Works, a youth development organization that provides educational opportunities for inner city middle and high school students.
