Dr. William L. Pollard is the former president of both the University of the District of Columbia and Medgar Evers College of The City University of New York. Dr. Pollard received his Ph.D. in policy and planning from the University Of Chicago School Of Social Administration in 1976. He began his tenure at Syracuse University in 1989, serving as dean of the Syracuse University School of Social Work for ten years, where he led the School in the development of its student-centered programs.
